Functional Testing
Write the test around the expected response.
The protocol should explain what is applied, what is observed and how the outcome is assessed.
- Conditions
- Specify the required supply, operating mode and setup conditions.
- Inputs
- Identify the signals, commands or actions applied to the assembly.
- Outputs
- State the behavior or measurement that the test needs to observe.
- Acceptance
- Provide limits, references and a clear treatment of unexpected results.

Make results meaningful beyond the test station.
A result needs enough context to show what was tested and under which agreed conditions.
Define record relationships- Version
- Assembly revision, protocol revision and relevant software identifiers.
- Outcome
- The required pass/fail decision or measurements, matched to the agreed criteria.
- Exceptions
- An identified review path when results fall outside the expected conditions.
Decide what needs to be verified again.
Rework, component changes and final integration can change the test context. Agree when re-verification is needed and what records accompany it.
